Griffin Academy High School gets its charter renewed, scores rise
Griffin Academy Starts Year with Critical Charter Renewal, Follows with Improved Test Results
VCUSD Bestows Upon Griffin Academy High School a Vote of Confidence and New Contract
VALLEJO, CA – Griffin Technology Academies (GTA) and its four public schools are pleased to announce rising academic scores for all four schools and the award of a new VCUSD contract for Griffin Academy High School, our school with the highest student achievement.
High-performing college and career-bound students have been a hallmark of GTA since their inception 27 years ago. And this year our hard working students and teachers have again increased their academic scores, as evidenced by the NorthWest Educational Assessment (NWEA) tests that every student must take that showed above national average growth across three of the four schools.
Griffin Academy High School mid-year test scores have continued to grow this year, with students achieving 58% in ELA and 52% in Math on the Northwest Evaluation Association’s Measures of Academic Progress, both at the top of the growth range for schools across the country.
“Our student scores are a by-product of the hard work our students and teachers put in every day they come to school,” said Chief Academic Officer, Margie DiGiorgio. “Our students enjoy working hard while at the same time gaining critical thinking skills.”
GTA’s competitive but fun classes and academic teams are a major factor in the rising academic scores. And our growing academic outcomes were a major factor in the approval by Vallejo City Unified School District school board to renew Griffin Academy High School for five more years. The VCUSD board voted on January 14th to approve a new charter term, noting the school’s strong academic growth and its unique-to-Vallejo dual enrollment model.
“We are extremely excited for Griffin Academy, one of our high performing schools, and its students and staff,” said GTA Superintendent Nick Driver. “With its vote, the school district has again confirmed what we know to be true - our little north Vallejo schools are city-wide success stories, helping generations of Vallejo students get to college or their chosen career.”
GTA has just opened its open enrollment period for the 2026-27 school year. There are spaces for new students at most grade levels at its two high schools and two middle schools. The options now include GTAi, our innovative independent learning program, which allows students the option of a hybrid schedule or one that is completely online. This program is ideal for students who have outside activities that conflict with a full school day, or those who are looking to take a break from full time in person classes.
